Dick Daddario builds an abstract visual language from organic decision-making. His paintings use oil paired with cold wax, emphasizing a process-driven surface that accumulates marks and texture rather than polishing toward a single image.
He extends that same thinking into clay. Working with pinch-pot construction, he allows the forms to take on unexpected shapes during formation, then finishes the ceramic workflow through bisque firing and sawdust firing. Color is introduced with a method meant to generate surprising, patterned results—so the work’s “chance” is treated as part of the aesthetic.
