Nate Lowman (b. 1979) is an artist whose multimedia practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation. Since the early 2000s, he has continuously pushed the boundaries of his approach by mining imagery from art history, news cycles, and popular culture, transforming these visual signifiers into works that operate at the intersection of the critical, humorous, political, and poetic. His practice is defined by a sustained interrogation of commonplace, universally recognizable motifs—questioning their intended meanings while generating alternative narratives. Recent exhibitions include solo presentations at David Zwirner Los Angeles (2024), the Musée national Eugène Delacroix, Paris (2025), and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Buenos Aires (2024).
