Seeke is a directory of art exhibitions. Most of the site can be read without an account, and we have built it to collect as little about you as it can while still working. This policy explains what we do collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and how to make us delete it.

Who we are

Seeke (seeke.art) is operated by Seeke Art, a sole proprietorship based in New Jersey, at 101 Robbinsville Allentown Rd, Trenton, NJ 08691. For anything in this policy, write to service@seeke.art. We are the controller of the personal information described below.

What we collect

If you only browse

We record anonymous usage events so we can tell which cities and exhibitions people find useful. Each event carries a random session identifier, the name of the event, the exhibition or venue it relates to, the referring website’s domain, a coarse device class, and a country and region code.

We do not store your IP address, your full user agent, or a persistent identifier that follows you between sessions. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and we do not build profiles of readers.

Our search box records what was searched and how many results it returned, so we can find gaps in coverage. Anything that looks like an email address is discarded before the event is recorded rather than stored.

If you subscribe to the newsletter

We collect your email address and the page you subscribed from. It is stored by Loops, our email provider, and used only to send the Seeke newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from future sends immediately.

If you create an Artist Account

Artist Accounts sign in with a code sent to your email address; there is no password. We store your email address, and whatever you choose to add to your profile: a display name, an artist statement, the kinds of opportunities you are looking for, and the locations you would consider.

If you upload portfolio files we store the files themselves, their original filenames, file types and sizes, and any mediums our system identifies in them. Portfolio files are private. They are not shown on the public site, they are not shared with venues or other users, and they are used only to match you to opportunities.

If paid features are introduced, payment is handled by Stripe. We would store a Stripe customer reference and your plan status. We never receive or store your card number.

Why we are allowed to use it

Where the GDPR or similar law applies, we rely on your consent for the newsletter (withdrawable at any time by unsubscribing), on performance of a contract for Artist Accounts and any paid features, and on our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site for the anonymous usage events described above.

Who processes it for us

We use a small number of providers, each doing one job: Supabase (database, sign-in, and private file storage), Vercel (hosting), Loops (newsletter delivery), PostHog (product analytics), and Stripe (payments, if and when paid features launch). They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.

We also use automated services to research exhibitions and venues — currently OpenAI, Anthropic, and web search providers. These process information published by galleries and museums, not information about you. Your portfolio and profile are not used to train anyone’s models.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Artist Account data is kept until you delete your account. Anonymous usage events are kept for 24 months and are not linked to an identified person at any point.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from any email, ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it and close your account. Write to service@seeke.art and we will respond within 5 business days.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example to object to processing, to data portability, or to complain to a supervisory authority. We honour these regardless of where you are.

Exhibition listings and photographs

Exhibition listings describe public events and identify the artists showing in them, drawn from information galleries and museums publish themselves. If you are an artist, venue, or rights holder and want a listing or an image corrected or removed, see contact. We act on those requests; we do not require a legal threat first.

Children

Seeke is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for significant changes we will say so on the site or by email before they take effect.
