Public Art Learning Fund 2027
the opportunity
The New England Foundation for the Arts gives grants of $500 to $3,000 directly to New England artists for professional development that strengthens their public art practice: a conference, workshop, training, or discussion that builds creative or administrative skills related to working in the public realm. The opportunity may take place anywhere, with travel covered only beyond commuting distance, but must happen between January 1 and December 31, 2027. Funds are paid in full at the start of the grant year, and a short grantee report is due 40 days after the activity. NEFA prioritizes opportunities that clearly expand an artist's public art practice and contribute to more equitable and inclusive public artmaking in the region, and it offers office hours and info sessions before the deadline. Grants are taxable income reported on a 1099.
eligibility
Artists who live full-time and make work in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont, whose practice engages the public realm or is expanding toward public art, and who have an active CreativeGround profile. Not for developing or implementing a specific public art project; current PALF grantees and those with outstanding reports are ineligible, and past grantees must wait a full year after their report is approved.
