Lucid Art Foundation 2027 Residency
the opportunity
A solo residency on the Lucid Art Foundation's campus in Inverness, California, scheduled between March and November 2027. The artist lives in a house at the center of the campus and works in the Ark, a 650-square-foot studio built in 1960 that was once used by painter Gordon Onslow Ford and mixed-media artist Fariba Bogzaran, with a loft, skylights, wood-burning fireplace, and private deck. A print shop with a Sturges press is available to experienced printmakers using water-based media. Residents meet with a Lucid Art artist associate for a studio visit and join a weekly tea with staff, associates, and scholars, and the foundation curates an online exhibition of residency artists afterward. There is no stipend; residents cook for themselves, may harvest from the organic garden, and must bring a car. Applications are submitted through CaFÉ, with notification in January 2027.
eligibility
Artists residing in the United States or Canada with an MFA or equivalent independent studio experience and an exhibition history, working in land-based art, visual arts, video/new media, music composition, writing, poetry, or performance choreography. First-time applicants only; previous Lucid Art residents may not reapply. Oil-based paints, turpentine, spray paint, and other volatile or strong-smelling media are not permitted.
