2027 Winter Residency
Museum for Art in Wood
You should apply if you're a Greater Philadelphia artist working in wood with solid woodworking skills and an interest in sustainable practice.
About
The Museum for Art in Wood and the makerspace NextFab run the Winter Residency, now in its seventh session, awarding one fellowship a year to a Greater Philadelphia artist working in wood. The fellow receives a stipend for project materials and access to NextFab's workshop at 1800 N. American Street from January 4 to March 4, 2027, followed by a solo exhibition at NextFab from March 11 to June 10, 2027 and an artist talk on March 12. Reflecting both organizations' focus on sustainability, reclaimed wood must make up at least half of the work made during the residency. Artists apply through an online form; a jury of makers and educators picks the fellow, with notifications the week of November 16.
Eligibility
Open to artists based in the Greater Philadelphia region who work solely in wood or in wood combined with other materials, show technical proficiency with woodworking equipment, and are pursuing research into sustainable creative practice.
Applications happen on Museum for Art in Wood's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
