2027 Community Engagement Grants (New Work and Arts Fund)
the opportunity
Bronx Council on the Arts' Community Engagement Grants fund local projects, running January 1 through December 31, 2027, that let Bronx communities experience and engage with the visual, performing, literary, or media arts through a public program such as an exhibition or talkback, or through community involvement in the creative process. Individual Bronx artists apply through one Submittable form and can request from more than one fund for the same project: New Work, supported by the NYSCA Decentralization Program, gives up to $5,000 for the creation of a new work in a community setting, and Arts Fund, supported by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, gives up to $10,000; an individual without a fiscal sponsor can request up to $15,000 in total. Funds cover direct project costs such as artist fees, materials, and marketing. Peer panels review applications, and BCA runs six info sessions before the deadline with recordings posted afterward.
eligibility
Individual artists who are Bronx residents, unincorporated collectives with at least one Bronx-resident artist, and Bronx nonprofits with budgets under $100,000. Past BCA grantees must have filed final reports; BCA staff and board are ineligible. An artist cannot accept both an Arts Fund grant and a BRIO award in the same year.
