2027–2028 A.I.R. Fellowship Program
the opportunity
A.I.R. Gallery's twelve-month fellowship for emerging women and non-binary artists based in New York City, running September 2027 through August 2028. Six fellows each receive a first solo exhibition at A.I.R. in spring or summer 2028, four to five professional development workshops on subjects like grant writing and exhibition design, an A.I.R. artist mentor, a one-on-one studio visit with a review panelist, ongoing studio visits from staff, and a $3,000 stipend. Review is anonymous and runs in three rounds by a panel of outside curators, critics, and artists, with a final interview by A.I.R. members and staff; submitted files must not contain the applicant's name. Notification is expected in April 2027.
eligibility
Women and non-binary visual artists in any media, 18 or older, resident in the five boroughs of NYC for the full fellowship (September 2027–August 2028). Must not have had a solo exhibition at a permanent NYC venue in the last 10 years, not be a student or in another comparable fellowship or residency during the program, and not be an A.I.R. member, employee, board member, or Fellowship alum.
