Alderworks Alaska Summer 2027 Residencies
Alderworks Alaska Writers and Artists Retreat
You should apply if you're a painter, photographer or other artist who wants three quiet weeks in an Alaskan cabin and can pay a cabin fee.
About
Alderworks Alaska hosts writers and artists for three-week summer residencies in cabins on the edge of the wilderness in Dyea, near Skagway, Alaska. Two sessions run in 2027, one from late May to the third week of June and one from early to late July. Each resident gets a private cabin with a kitchen and wifi, shared use of a studio building, bicycles, a weekly grocery run and bear safety gear, and gives a reading, workshop or small show for the community. Applications open November 15 and close February 15 through Submittable, with a letter of intent, a resume and up to five images or recordings. Finalists are interviewed by Zoom in late February.
Eligibility
Writers, visual artists and musicians working anywhere in the world. Applicants state a session and cabin preference, send a letter of intent of up to three pages, and need to arrange their own food and travel to Skagway.
Applications happen on Alderworks Alaska Writers and Artists Retreat's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
