About

Riverside Arts Center in downtown Ypsilanti opens its 2026-27 gallery season with a themed group exhibition of work made entirely without plastic: no acrylic paint or gesso, synthetic fibers, plastic adhesives, 3D printing or plastic beads. Oil paint, watercolor, natural fibers, wood, charcoal, oil pastel, ceramics and glass are all fair game. Artists submit one to five images with title, medium, dimensions and price, plus a 100–300 word statement and a short CV, through Artwork Archive. Selected artists are notified November 13, deliver work November 30, and show from December 4, 2026 to January 10, 2027, opening with a reception on December 4. Work can be offered for sale, with the gallery keeping a 30% commission. Pieces must be display-ready and no larger than 36 by 48 inches unless pre-approved.

Eligibility

Open to artists of all ages locally, regionally and nationally; priority may go to artists in Southeastern Michigan. Work must be original, plastic-free (frames and hanging hardware excepted), display-ready and available for the full run. Artists under 18 need written guardian permission.

Applications happen on Riverside Arts Center's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
