Art on the Greenway: Textile Columns (Phase 2)
Lancaster County Council of the Arts
You should apply if you're 14 or older, live in a Southeastern state and make 2D work such as painting, drawing, printmaking or digital design.
About
The Lancaster County Council of the Arts is choosing designs for the second phase of 40-plus permanent art columns along the Lindsay Pettus Greenway in Lancaster, SC. Each design reinterprets a historic Springs Industries textile pattern from the Baxter Mill Archive's catalogue of 130 designs. Artists reserve a pattern, make an original 2D work at a 5:2 height-to-width ratio and upload a 300 dpi scan; selected designs are printed on vinyl and wrapped around four-sided columns with signage naming the artist, who keeps the original. Each selected artist receives a $100 honorarium. Artists are notified in January 2027.
Eligibility
Artists aged 14 and up living in the Southeast: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina or Tennessee. 2D media only (painting, drawing, collage, printmaking, textile art, digital design); no photography or sculpture. Up to two designs per artist.
Applications happen on Lancaster County Council of the Arts's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
