City of Ames Public Art Commission
You should apply if you're a sculptor with weather-durable outdoor work you can deliver to Iowa.
About
The City of Ames Public Art Commission is taking entries for its 2027-28 outdoor sculpture exhibition, shown on public sites around Ames, Iowa. Artists may enter up to three sculptures, each with up to five photos, an artist statement and an explanation of how it installs and is secured; entries go through the online form, by email or by mail. A panel from the Iowa art community juries from photographs. Each selected sculpture earns a $2,000 honorarium, and a $1,000 top award is given in the fall. Artists transport their work to and from Ames and install it with city staff on a provided concrete pad; the city insures each piece up to $10,000 once installed. Works may be bought by the city or privately, with no commission.
Eligibility
Sculptors with outdoor work durable enough for public display in all weather; the call states no residency or career-stage restriction. Artists must deliver and collect their own work.
