2027 Craft Apprentice Program
Maine Arts Commission
You should apply if you're a Maine or New Hampshire resident working in craft media, not painting, drawing or photography.
About
The Craft Apprentice Program, run by the Maine Crafts Association, the Maine Arts Commission and the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, pairs a mentor artist with an apprentice for 100 hours of one-on-one training over seven months, March 1 through September 30, 2027. A mentor and apprentice apply together with shared goals, a plan and a proposed budget, and both submit images of current work. Finalist pairs interview over Zoom in January. Mentors receive a $5,000 honorarium and apprentices $3,000, partly for supplies and travel. The cohort shows new work in a capstone exhibition at Watershed in Maine and then in Concord, New Hampshire.
Eligibility
Craft artists aged 18+ who are current Maine or New Hampshire residents, applying as a mentor and apprentice pair; apprentices need foundational skills. Photography, painting and drawing are excluded.
Applications happen on Maine Arts Commission's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
