About
The California Center for the Arts Museum in Escondido runs two eight-week In Studio residencies in 2027, one from January to March and one from April to June. Each resident gets dedicated studio space at the museum, a $2,000 honorarium and a $1,000 materials stipend, plus at least one open studio and one public program. Each resident also gets a solo exhibition at the museum in 2028, with a separate artist fee. Applicants send a project proposal and artist statement of up to 300 words each, a CV, up to 10 recent images and their preferred period through an online form. Up to five finalists are interviewed by video.
Eligibility
Artists 18 or older working in any medium who live within a 50-mile radius of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, and can work on site at least two days a week for the full eight weeks.
