2027-2028 Movement Research Artist-in-Residence
Movement Research
You should apply if you're an early-career dance or movement-based artist who has lived in New York City for at least a year and isn't a student.

About
Movement Research's Artist-in-Residence program, running since 1989, supports early-career dance and movement-based artists in New York City over 18 months, from July 1, 2027 to December 31, 2028. Six artists are chosen by a peer panel. Each receives a $5,000 residency fee, 125 hours of free rehearsal space in Movement Research studios, free workshops in the MELT intensives and reduced class rates. Residents share work in the Movement Research at the Judson Church series for a $500 performance fee, meet as a cohort every six weeks and file a final report; no finished product is required. Applicants submit an introduction, an artistic statement, work samples and answers on how they would use the residency, through Submittable or by email for accessibility.
Eligibility
Individual NYC residents (permanent address in the five boroughs for at least a year) working in dance or movement-based forms, with 2–10 years of experience as a generative artist under the Jerome Foundation definition. Students in any degree program, including low-residency MFAs, and past MR residents are not eligible; collectives should ask first.
Applications happen on Movement Research's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
