2027 John Chervinsky Emerging Photographer Scholarship
Griffin Museum of Photography
You should apply if you're an emerging photographer anywhere, without gallery representation or a major solo show.
About
The Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, Massachusetts, awards the John Chervinsky Emerging Photographer Scholarship each year to a photographer with the potential to build a body of work and sustain solo exhibitions. The recipient receives $3,000, an exhibition at the Griffin Museum and a volume from Chervinsky's personal photography library. The scholarship was founded by the photographer John Chervinsky, who funded its first ten years, and is now supported by donations; the 2026 jurors were past scholars Bridget Jourgensen and Tavon Taylor. Photographers apply online through the museum's linked application, and the awardee is announced by January 2027.
Eligibility
Emerging photographers of any age and from anywhere, with no residency requirement; students qualify only in the graduating year of a photography degree. Applicants must not have gallery representation, a solo show in a commercial, academic (thesis shows excepted), photography-center or museum gallery, or grants over $3,000. Past awardees and Griffin staff, board and juror families are excluded.
Applications happen on Griffin Museum of Photography's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
