About
Sacramento's Art in Public Places program, funded through the City's 2% for public art ordinance, is looking for an artist to design and install work at the public entrance of the renovated Martin Luther King Jr. Library at 7340 24th Street Bypass. The City wants three-dimensional sculptural work, such as relief panels or a series of constructed panels, mounted on one or two brick entrance walls and addressing the theme of civil rights. Murals painted directly on the brick are not accepted. The total award is $151,500. Applicants submit qualifications through the City's online portal by 11:59pm. An optional online information session is held October 12.
Eligibility
Professional artists working in sculpture, sculptural relief, site-specific design or environmental installation. Additional consideration goes to artists with prior experience in, or connections to, south Sacramento communities.
