Wave Farm 2027 Research and Production Program
the opportunity
Wave Farm's annual international open call for up to six residencies and fellowships in 2027 at its Study Center in Acra, New York, home of WGXC 90.7-FM. Two 10-day residencies, Transmission Art and Spatial Sound, support the development of new transmission artwork, the latter in a dedicated 8-channel spatial sound studio, each with a $1,000 stipend, workspace, equipment, a research library, and staff support. Two 2-month Radio Art Fellowships, one in research (selecting historical and contemporary radio artworks for Wave Farm's Broadcast Radio Art Archive and producing a short broadcast series) and one in community engagement (developing and leading a public workshop on radio), each carry a $2,000 stipend and combine remote work with a 10-day onsite visit. One application covers all 2027 opportunities. A peer panel of transmission artists, engineers, and past residents reviews proposals; finalists are interviewed over Zoom and notified in late February.
eligibility
International open call for artists, researchers, and tinkerers who either have a significant body of transmission-related work or can demonstrate the capacity to realize the proposed project. Full-time students are ineligible, with case-by-case exceptions for career artists in post-graduate study. DJ sets are not eligible projects. Past Wave Farm residents and fellows may apply.
