About
Brooklyn Arts Council's largest regrant program, funded by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, gives $5,000 or $7,500 grants for publicly accessible arts projects taking place in Brooklyn during calendar year 2027: exhibitions, performances, workshops, reading series, festivals, public art, and more, in any discipline. In 2026 the fund distributed $625,000 to 136 projects. Panels of Brooklyn community members review proposals, and the strongest applications explain how the project will affect the cultural life of its audience and neighborhood. Applications are submitted through Submittable; BAC runs info sessions, budget workshops, and office hours through early October, with recordings posted online. Grantees also get access to mentors, training, and future collaborators through BAC's programs.
Eligibility
Individual artists with proof of Brooklyn residency, artist collectives or unincorporated groups operating in Brooklyn (with a Brooklyn-resident primary contact), and Brooklyn-based nonprofits with operating budgets under $100,000. Projects must be public, occur in Brooklyn in 2027, and be in the same county as the applicant's address; student projects and public art on private property are ineligible.
