A professional-development grant from Brooklyn Arts Council, named for its founder Charlene Victor and former president Ella J. Weiss and funded by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. Selected Brooklyn-based women artists and arts administrators each receive $3,500, paid up front: $2,500 toward individualized professional development such as workshops, residencies, boot camps, conferences, or fellowships, plus $1,000 in direct compensation. The award is for the applicant's own development, not for producing a project or for running programs for others. In 2026, three artists were funded. A review panel weighs the clarity of the proposed activities and budget, the applicant's track record and advocacy for Brooklyn's cultural life, and realistic planning. Applications go through Submittable.
Eligibility
Brooklyn-based women artists or arts administrators at the emerging or mid-career stage. Not open to nonprofit organizations, community service groups, or educational organizations, or to past BAC grantees with an outstanding final report.
