Artist's Book Residency Grant 2027–2028
the opportunity
An eight- to ten-week funded residency at Women's Studio Workshop in Rosendale, New York, to print and bind a limited-edition artist's book of 50 to 100 copies in WSW's studios. The grant includes a $350-per-week stipend, up to $1,000 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the continental US, free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access, with technical advice, equipment training, and production help from staff. Under the standard contract, 20% of the edition goes to the artist, 20% stays with WSW for its archive and standing-order institutions, and 60% goes to distribution and sale; WSW's books are held in more than 450 collections. An outside jury of artists and curators selects recipients. Applications combine a Submittable upload (resume, 200-word project description, materials budget, up to ten images, and image script) with a mailed physical book mock-up postmarked by November 15. Notification is in March 2027 for a residency between September 2027 and June 2028.
eligibility
Open to women and trans, intersex, nonbinary, and genderfluid artists, including international applicants, proposing a limited-edition artist's book. Applicants may also ask to be considered for the BIMA Artist's Book Residency Grant for Indigenous Artists.
