About
Essere Residency is a self-directed two-week residency, September 20 to October 4, 2027, on a medieval hillside estate in Cetona in southern Tuscany, for about 18 to 20 writers, artists and other creatives. The fee covers 14 nights of private or shared lodging, ten three-course dinners with wine, a brunch, housekeeping and laundry; evenings bring craft talks by guest artists in residence, with individual mentorship and coaching from director Jennie Lee by appointment. Applicants complete an English-language form with an artist statement and residency plan, one to five work samples and one reference letter. Six partial fellowships of €1,000 off the residency fee are offered.
Eligibility
Creatives at any career stage in literature, visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, architecture, textile and paper, photography, graphic and fashion design, digital art, illustration, mixed media, film/video), performance, humanities and research, or food art. Applications must be in English.
