About
The Maine Arts Commission's Artist Fellowship is a $5,000 unrestricted award recognizing artistic excellence across a Maine artist's career, not a project grant. One fellow is chosen in each of six disciplines — Fine Craft, Literary Arts, Media Arts and Photography, Performing Arts, Traditional Arts and Visual Arts — forming a cohort of six for 2027. Fellows get bios on the Commission's website, a year of promotion, a reception with staff and Commissioners in early 2027, and networking opportunities. Applicants apply through Submittable in one discipline, answering short questions and sending a resume or bio and work samples; notifications arrive in mid-January 2027.
Eligibility
Maine residents who have lived in the state full-time for at least two years before the deadline and will remain residents through the fellowship. Applicants must be 25 or older, not enrolled as students as of January 1, 2027, and not previous Maine Artist Fellows. Individuals or collectives (one application per collective).
