About
Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture's nine-week summer program brings about sixty emerging artists from around the world together with ten resident and visiting faculty artists on a 350-acre campus in rural Maine. The 2027 session runs June 5–August 7, 2027, and every participant commits to being on campus for the full nine weeks. There are no formal courses or required outcomes; the structure is built around studio production, group studio visits, workshops, readings, and communal living. Tuition is $6,000, but admissions are need-blind: applicants say what they can reasonably contribute, and scholarship funds cover accepted artists who cannot pay. Selection runs in several rounds of review by the Board of Governors, faculty, and invited alumni; letters of recommendation are not required.
Eligibility
Artists at least 21 years old by the start of the program, from any country, with no upper age limit; Skowhegan recommends some years of experience in one's own practice. Financial circumstances are not considered in admissions.
