About
The AAPI Fund's Creative Catalyst Fellowship gives up to eight individual artists $30,000 each to make work around this year's theme, Belonging, that engages the public on issues facing Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. The fellowship runs January to December 2027: fellows attend a virtual orientation, a required two-day in-person retreat on February 16–18, 2027 (travel and lodging covered), and virtual check-ins, complete their artwork by August 15, 2027, and file a narrative report. The Fund supports promotion of the finished work through a communications consultant, digital advertising, introductions to AAPI organizations and help placing the work in exhibitions. Applicants complete an online application form; fellows are announced January 14, 2027.
Eligibility
Individual artists only; organizations are not eligible. Applicants must be 18 or older and U.S.-based: the FAQ says international artists are not eligible, though U.S. citizenship is not required. Work should connect with AAPI communities. Past Creative Catalyst Fellows may reapply three years after their fellowship ends.
