Bernheim Artist in Residence Program 2027
Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest
You should apply if you're a professional visual artist, from anywhere, and can live on site in rural Kentucky for several weeks.

About
Bernheim, an arboretum and research forest in rural Clermont, Kentucky, 25 miles south of Louisville, selects up to four visual artists a year for six- to eight-week residencies to make work inspired by its landscape. Residents live on site, receive a $2,500 stipend and a modest, naturally lit studio near a lake, with limited access to basic tools. One residency is reserved for an artist living in Kentucky or nearby Southern Indiana, and one for an artist whose work addresses environmental issues and climate change. Residency dates are arranged with each artist within 2027, and stays can be split into two periods of at least three weeks.
Eligibility
Professional visual and mixed-media artists, emerging or established, regional, national or international; sound and performance work with visual elements qualifies. Writers, musicians, dancers and undergraduate students are not eligible, nor are former Bernheim residents. Collectives may apply.
Applications happen on Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
