Blue Mountain Center 2027 Residencies
Blue Mountain Center
You should apply if you're an established artist, writer or activist, anywhere, whose work needs no special facilities.

About
Blue Mountain Center is a working community of writers, artists, composers and activists in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, offering free four-week summer residencies with room and board provided; residents pay their own travel, and some financial support (past awards about $400 to $600) is available to those who need it. The 2027 application opens December 1, 2026 through BMC's online system. Visual artists submit a bio, a one-to-two-page plan for their time at BMC, a statement on communal living, five JPEG images with an image list and a brief artist statement. An admissions committee of authors and artists favors work with social and ecological concern aimed at a general audience.
Eligibility
Established writers, artists not requiring exceptional facilities, composers, filmmakers and social-justice activists; international applicants welcome. People of color, women and LGBTQ artists and activists are encouraged to apply. Residents must be vaccinated for COVID-19.
Applications happen on Blue Mountain Center's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
