Bread & Salt 2027 Artist in Residence
Bread & Salt
You should apply if you want three months of free studio and gallery space in San Diego and can find your own housing.
About
Bread & Salt, an arts center in Logan Heights south of downtown San Diego, awards three-month residencies each year to local, national and international artists. Residencies are fully sponsored and come with studio and gallery space and 24-hour studio access, but no housing, so residents arrange their own lodging. Residents take part in public engagement during gallery hours and on second-Saturday evenings. The program is open to every discipline, from painting, sculpture and photography to film, new media, social practice and architecture. Applicants send a CV, a letter of interest, three references and work samples, up to 12 images for visual artists, through an online form. A jury of artists and arts professionals picks finalists.
Eligibility
Artists at any career stage working in any discipline, from anywhere. Applicants cannot be enrolled in an academic program during the residency; PhD students are considered case by case. Collectives apply together with one application.
Applications happen on Bread & Salt's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
