About
The Golden Fleece Award gives €10,000 in each of two categories, Visual Art and Craft + Applied Art, to practising artists on the island of Ireland and Irish-born artists working abroad. Shortlisted artists also receive an award, with the amount still to be confirmed. Applicants send six images of work made in the past two years and may add up to three moving-image or audio works, plus referee details. The award is open to artists at any career stage who can show artistic merit and expertise. The call for 2027 opened on October 16, 2026 and closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2026. Just over 240 applications were received for the 2026 award.
Eligibility
Craft and visual artists living and working on the island of Ireland, and Irish-born artists working overseas, at any career stage. Full-time students are not normally considered, and the award cannot fund postgraduate study fees.
