Ongoing AIR AWARD, May–July 2027
Art Center Ongoing
You should apply if you're an individual artist or curator from anywhere, with two recommendation letters, seeking a two-month residency and show in Tokyo.
About
The Ongoing AIR AWARD gives one artist or curator a two-month stay in Tokyo from May 8 to July 8, 2027 with accommodation free of charge and a free exhibition at Art Center Ongoing, an artist-run gallery and café in Kichijoji. The winner has a private room in a shared house with two English-speaking staff, a lent bicycle, and a welcome party, weekly meetings and presentation events. There is no production studio. Applicants email an application form, CV, portfolio, links to relevant work and at least two recommendation letters. Travel, living and production costs and insurance are the artist's own. Artists may apply to both the AWARD and the paid Ongoing AIR.
Eligibility
Artists and curators from Japan or overseas; one person only (duos are not accepted). At least two recommendation letters are required. Residents must stay at least two-thirds of the period and hold insurance covering injury, illness and theft in Japan.
Applications happen on Art Center Ongoing's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
