About

The City of Pickering, Ontario, is commissioning a permanent outdoor artwork for the new Dave Ryan Community Park, named for the city's longest-serving mayor. The city wants functional public art, such as seating, lighting, wayfinding or a gathering feature, for a space of about 4 by 5 metres beside the park's fieldhouse, reflecting community building and growth. The total budget is $60,000 CAD including HST, covering design, materials, installation and other costs. Selection has two stages: a jury of professional artists and community members reviews the expressions of interest, then three shortlisted artists or teams are each paid $1,500 CAD to develop a concept and present it at the March 31, 2027 jury meeting. Stage 1 asks for a single PDF with a resume and a short statement, which can also be an audio or video message.

Eligibility

Artists or artist teams. Under the city's Public Art Policy, an artist can be a professional artist, graphic designer, collaborative team, architect or landscape designer. The call states no residency requirement.

Applications happen on City of Pickering Public Art's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
