Synthetic Truths
UNDERSTORY
You should apply if you're a U.S.-based artist making conceptual work, especially within 100 miles of Cleveland.
About
UNDERSTORY, a Cleveland gallery, is taking conceptual work for Synthetic Truths, a show about the synthetic, the substitute and the not-quite-real: lab-grown food, chatbot confidants, photographs of things that never happened. Experimental, installation, audio and new media work is especially welcome alongside sculpture, painting and textiles. The gallery expects 10 to 25 works by 7 to 15 artists, running January 13 to February 27, 2027. Each artist submits up to three works with a short statement and a process note disclosing any AI use, which becomes part of the show. Work may be sold, with a 25% commission.
Eligibility
Artists living in the United States at any career stage, with priority for those within 100 miles of Cleveland. Up to three works; artists pay shipping both ways and must include a prepaid return label.
Applications happen on UNDERSTORY's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
