About
The City of West Hollywood is seeking qualifications for a temporary outdoor sculpture exhibition on the Santa Monica Boulevard median at Doheny Drive, its main outdoor exhibition site, which has six existing sculpture foundations. The project is part of the city's Creative Plan for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Three semi-finalists will each receive a $3,000 honorarium to develop a proposal on the theme Inventing Traditions and present it to the Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission's Art on the Outside Subcommittee. The selected artist or curator will be commissioned with a budget of up to $72,000. Applicants send a cover letter and portfolio; no proposal is needed at this stage.
Eligibility
Professional artists, independent curators and curators representing nonprofit arts organizations based in the United States, with experience organizing outdoor public art of similar scope. BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+ and West Hollywood-based applicants are especially encouraged. One submission per applicant.
