About
Ubah Rumah is an artist studio on Nikoi Island, a private island off Bintan in Indonesia's Riau archipelago. Its name means 'Home of Change' in Malay, after the nomadic Orang Laut of the Riau islands. Selected artists spend four to six weeks in residence in 2027 or 2028, running the Living Studio by making experiences for island guests, with practices that touch on ecology and hospitality. Residents receive an artist fee, accommodation and round-trip travel within Southeast Asia. Artists apply through an online form; only shortlisted artists are contacted.
