WVU Libraries AIR 2027: Common Threads: Industry, Labor & Community
West Virginia University Libraries – Art in the Libraries
You should apply if you're an artist, curator or creator aged 18 or over based in the U.S., in any medium.
About
West Virginia University Libraries' Art in the Libraries program funds one artist to make new work from the Industry, Labor and Community collections at the West Virginia & Regional History Center: union records, company-town archives, oral histories and community papers. The residency is a five-to-seven-day stay in Morgantown in March or April 2027, with at least two days in the archives, followed by an exhibition and a 20-minute public presentation at the WVU Downtown Library. The award is $1,000 for materials, up to $3,500 in travel, lodging and meal reimbursements, and a $1,000 honorarium; the artist keeps ownership of the work. Applicants email one PDF with an abstract, statement of interest, timeline and budget, artist statement, CV and 5 to 10 work samples.
Eligibility
Artists, curators and creators aged 18 or over based in the United States (the call also mentions Canada-based artists). Work in 2D, 3D or interdisciplinary media, including painting, photography, sculpture, book arts, textiles, oral-history installation and performance. WVU alumni and underrepresented artists are especially encouraged.
Applications happen on West Virginia University Libraries – Art in the Libraries's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
