About

The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts hosts residencies of one to six weeks at Mt. San Angelo in Amherst, Virginia, alongside 20+ writers, visual artists and composers. Fellows get a private bedroom with en-suite bath, an individual studio and three meals a day. This application covers residencies scheduled September to December 2027; notifications go out by April 30. Fellows are chosen by discipline-specific peer panels on professional achievement or promise. Fully funded fellowships are offered at each deadline and financial assistance is available. Applications are made through SlideRoom.

Eligibility

Open to visual artists, writers and composers; panels review each discipline separately (drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, installation, book arts, film/video and others). Artists may be in residence at Mt. San Angelo only once every two years, so returning Fellows must wait to reapply.

Applications happen on Virginia Center for the Creative Arts's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
