Visual Arts Residency: Embodied Making: Performance Art, Images and Objects 2027
Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity
You should apply if you're a visual artist aged 18 or over, anywhere, with post-secondary training or equivalent experience.
About
Banff Centre's five-week faculty-led visual arts residency, July 5 to August 6, 2027, asks artists to think broadly about performance, through movement, stillness, reading, listening, endurance, care and collective action, and about how images and objects are activated by embodied interaction, with Banff's landscape as a collaborator. Faculty include Brendan Fernandes. Artists receive an individual studio with shared production facilities and technician support, one-to-one mentorship, seminars and workshops. Applicants submit a resume, artist statement, project proposal, resource requests and portfolio through SlideRoom, and a panel selects on merit, feasibility and fit with the theme. Fees include a campus bedroom and all meals.
Eligibility
Individual artists or duos at any career stage, 18 or older, with post-secondary visual arts training or equivalent peer-recognized experience including traditional knowledge. Must attend all five weeks. Domestic and international applicants welcome; international participants need a Canadian visitor visa.
Applications happen on Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
