About

The Washington Project for the Arts, with funding from the Andy Warhol Foundation, offers Wherewithal Grants to DC-area visual artists and collectives. Project and Presentation grants are $7,500 for ongoing or new projects with unconventional or D.I.Y. values that will be presented publicly in the DC area or virtually between January and December 2027. Research grants are $5,000 for ideation, research and experimentation, with funds paying for the artist's research time and collaborators. Applicants apply for one grant per cycle. Applications close Thursday, November 19, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, an independent panel meets in December, and notifications go out in late December.

Eligibility

Artists and collectives living in DC or Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Montgomery or Prince George's counties. Full-time undergraduate or graduate students, 501(c)(3) organizations and for-profit organizations are not eligible.
