2027 Space Taking Artist Residency
Fresh Arts
You should apply if you're an emerging or mid-career artist, curator or collective in the Greater Houston area and not enrolled in an art degree.
About
Fresh Arts' Space Taking Artist Residency gives two Houston-area artists or teams a gallery to take over in 2027. After a month and a half of mentor-guided planning, each resident gets six weeks of round-the-clock access to about 1,800 square feet of gallery space at Winter Street Studios, a $3,600 honorarium, a creative-services stipend, marketing support, professional documentation and a one-year Fresh Arts membership. Residents plan and run their own public activations, such as exhibitions, performances, screenings, workshops or talks, and keep all ticket and sales revenue. Applicants submit a bio, CV, work samples, project summary and proposed event schedule; up to five are interviewed before final selection.
Eligibility
Emerging and mid-career artists, curators, artist teams and collectives of any discipline who live within 50 miles of Houston. Applicants may not be enrolled in an art-related degree program, and every artist in the proposed activities must meet these requirements.
Applications happen on Fresh Arts's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
