About
Jack Straw Cultural Center's New Media Gallery Program supports artists in creating a gallery installation in which sound is a prominent or the only element, shown in the New Media Gallery at Jack Straw's building in Seattle's University District. Selected artists get studio recording and production support from Jack Straw engineers, a $500 expense budget for the installation, an artist talk and opening reception, and documentation through the New Media Gallery podcast series. Projects chosen in this cycle are scheduled to show no earlier than fall 2027. Proposals may span one or more disciplines; the program is not limited to visual artists. An interdisciplinary peer panel reviews applications, submitted through Submittable, and awardees are notified in February 2027. Application workshops and Instagram Live conversations with past gallery artists run through October.
Eligibility
Emerging and established artists in any discipline proposing a sound-based gallery installation. One application per person per year, to only one Jack Straw program; past participants must wait one year to reapply to the same program.
