Art in Manufacturing 2027 Residencies
National Festival of Making
You should apply if you're an artist or maker based in the UK or Ireland, working in any art form, solo or as a collective.
About
The National Festival of Making is commissioning two paid artist residencies inside Lancashire manufacturers for its tenth festival: one at Crown Paints in Darwen, which can offer a working space and its archive, and one at Fox's Burton's biscuit factory in Blackpool, looking for a socially engaged artist to work with staff and local residents. Residencies run between January and June 2027, and the finished work is shown at the festival in Blackburn on June 25–27, 2027. Each carries an £8,000 commission budget covering the artist's fee and production, plus up to £600 for travel and accommodation. Artists send a roughly 300-word expression of interest by email; shortlisted artists interview in Lancashire on December 9–14.
Eligibility
Artists and makers based in the UK or Ireland, working in any art form and at any career stage, individually or as collectives, who can spend time in the factory between January and July 2027.
Applications happen on National Festival of Making's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
