About
Pedantic Arts Residency brings a trio of one visual artist, one curator or organizer, and one writer to Pittsburgh for four weeks of immersion rather than production, in a cohort built on exchange across the three roles. Two 2027 terms are offered, June 5–July 2 and October 2–29, based on Penn Avenue in one of the city's largest arts districts. Each resident gets a free bedroom in the Pedantic Apartment, a $2,000 honorarium, a Pittsburgh-based guide in a similar field, and weekly programming such as private dinners, studio visits, and museum tours; no final deliverable is required. The same application also covers the Pedantic Research Grant, a one-to-two-week stay for Pittsburgh-related research. Applicants choose a role, pick the terms they want, and submit a bio and description of practice; a recorded info session walks through the process.
Eligibility
Visual artists, organizers/curators, and writers living outside Pittsburgh; Pittsburgh-based creatives are not eligible. Applicants may apply for more than one term but will be invited to only one.
