About
Self-supported residencies of two to four weeks at the Morgan Conservatory in Cleveland, the country's largest center for papermaking, book arts, and letterpress, for artists whose work engages those practices. Residents get seven-day-a-week access to the paper, print, and bindery studios after required training, dedicated workspace and storage, store discounts, help finding local housing (past residents have averaged about $300 a week), and the chance to give an artist talk, teach a workshop, or exhibit. Artists cover travel, housing, living costs, a studio fee starting at the Morgan's weekly studio rate, materials, and optional technical support at $25–$35 an hour; a limited number of scholarships for emerging artists offset costs in some years. Residencies can be proposed for any time in 2027. Applications go through Jotform (a PDF preview of the questions is on the page), and all applicants hear back by December 4, 2026.
Eligibility
Emerging and established artists from anywhere in the world whose work engages papermaking, printmaking, book arts, or related interdisciplinary practices, and who can fund their own residency costs. Strong proposals show how the Morgan's specific studios and equipment support the project.
