Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum 2027 Artist in Residence (Spring Session)
Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute
You should apply if you're a trained or professionally experienced artist whose work engages the natural world and who can teach a workshop.
About
The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum's Art Institute hosts one artist for a month-long residency, April 1–30, 2027, on museum grounds west of Tucson. The resident gets a private casita for two, a $750 stipend, $750 travel reimbursement, exhibition space during the stay and a month's all-access membership. In return the artist lives on site, teaches a one-day workshop for Art Institute students, and documents the residency online or in a filmed class. Applicants email a 300-word residency proposal, a portfolio link with CV, and a 300-word workshop idea; finalists record a short video in December.
Eligibility
Open to artists with post-secondary art training or equivalent professional experience whose practice fits the museum's mission of conservation through art education. The resident must live on site for the whole month and lead one workshop; pets are not allowed in the casita.
Applications happen on Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
