About

The Fairport Public Arts Committee is commissioning a permanent, site-specific artwork for Perinton Park on the north bank of the Erie Canal, part of the mile-long Fairport-Perinton Art Trail between the Village of Fairport and the Town of Perinton. The total budget is $30,000, covering artist fees, stamped engineering, materials, fabrication and installation. Artists submit an online form plus a resume, letter of interest, three references and images of at least three past projects. Up to three finalists receive an $800 stipend to develop a proposal, which goes on public display before the committee picks the artist. An optional theme invites work using salvaged Erie Canal artifacts. Installation is due by Fairport Canal Days in May 2027.

Eligibility

Open to the general public, including artists, designers, architects and community residents; artist teams welcome. No residency requirement. Voting members of the Fairport Public Arts Committee, Village Board or Merchants Association Board must recuse themselves, and related applicants must disclose the relationship.

Applications happen on Fairport Public Arts Committee's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
