Guelph Central Library Children's Area Public Art Commission
Guelph Public Library
You should apply if you're a Canadian public artist who can design durable, playful work for children in a new library.
About
The Friends of the Guelph Public Library invite experienced artists and artist-led teams to submit an expression of interest for an original public artwork in the Children's Area of the new Central Library in Guelph. The total budget is $250,000 CAD plus HST if applicable, with fabrication from April to September 2027 and installation in October 2027. Proposals are scored on artistic merit, how children and caregivers experience the work, feasibility, budget and timeline, and technical durability. Shortlisted artists are notified in mid-December, with a paid second-phase proposal due February 16, 2027. The first-phase submission deadline is November 27, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.
Eligibility
Artists or artist-led teams whose primary residence is Canada and who are legally entitled to work in Canada, plus Indigenous artists residing in or originating from the territories now known as Canada. Artists new to large-scale work are encouraged to team with technical partners.
Applications happen on Guelph Public Library's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
