Kristinestad Artists’ Residency, May 2027
Kristinestad Artists Residency
You should apply if you're a craft, design or visual artist, or another creative, from anywhere, with a project tied to a small Finnish coastal town.
About
Kristinestad Artists' Residency is a volunteer-run, non-profit residency on Finland's west coast, run by the association Yelema with the town's cultural affairs office and the Hemslöjdsgården craft association. The next session runs May 3 to 31, 2027. Residents get accommodation within walking or cycling distance and studio space either at Hemslöjdsgården, which has looms, woodworking and ceramics facilities, or at Studio Fremdeling, an open studio that doubles as a gallery, plus a bike. Exhibitions, events and skill-sharing workshops are welcome. Applicants email an informal letter describing what they want to do, links to their work and a short project plan; results come a week after the deadline.
Eligibility
Open to all creative fields, with craft and design and visual arts particularly welcome, and also musicians, writers and researchers. Projects relevant to the local context and community are especially appreciated. No grants are available, but selected artists receive a letter of support for funding applications.
Applications happen on Kristinestad Artists Residency's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
