About
Material Works Art is an artist-run platform in Chicago that gives one artist a one-time $2,500 award in exchange for an original artwork that joins its collection. Applicants upload 1 to 15 images, an image list, and an optional statement, bio and CV. Applications close at 300 entries or on December 6, 2026, whichever comes first. The selected artist is interviewed for an online profile and featured on social media, and Material Works covers shipping. Shortlisted artists are also profiled.
Eligibility
Visual artists over 18 working worldwide in painting, photography, installation, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, experimental or conceptual art; music, writing, film and time-based media are not accepted. One submission per applicant.
Applications happen on Material Works Art's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
