New American Paintings MFA Annual
New American Paintings
You should apply if you're a painter currently in a U.S. MFA program or who graduated from one since 2021.
About
New American Paintings runs six juried competitions a year; the MFA Annual is the one reserved for current Master of Fine Arts candidates and recent graduates. Entries are judged blind on the artwork alone, and this year's juror is Lauren Rosati of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Forty painters are selected, and each receives a multipage, full-color feature in the MFA Annual issue of New American Paintings at no further cost. The magazine takes a wide view of painting, accepting any style, subject or medium provided the work is original. Applicants create an account, upload their work and pay the entry fee online.
Eligibility
Open to current MFA candidates attending schools based in the United States and to MFA graduates since 2021. Painting is defined broadly: all styles, subjects and media are accepted as long as the work is original.
Applications happen on New American Paintings's website. Seeke reviews and indexes the listing but does not accept applications.
