About
Open AIR runs place-based residencies at unique sites across Montana, with exhibitions, public engagement and professional development built in. Residencies offer flexible scheduling so artists can shape the experience around their process. Every artist receives a $35-a-day stipend, and those coming from out of town are housed. There is no participation fee, but artists cover travel and food. Applicants submit 5 to 10 work samples, a 100-word bio and a description of their creative practice. Some sites are limited to artists with Indigenous background. Applications close Monday, November 30 at 11:59 pm MST.
Eligibility
Artists of all disciplines aged 18 or older, living and working in the United States or abroad. Some 2027/28 residencies are open to Indigenous artists only.
